1) Family Guy
Sorry if this was fairly obvious, but Family Guy is the show that hit seasonal rot the worst. No, like Teen Titans Go, it didn’t hit seasonal rot. It fully embraced it! Family Guy has been canceled more than once, but the fan base was so strong that Family Guy has been able to come back to life while suffering no consequences. To be fair, the times that Family Guy was canceled were when the show was actually good. The first 2 seasons were great, the 3rd was good, and the 4th okay. Given that caseload, I can understand why people would have wanted Family Guy to come back at that point in time. There are those who think that the show was good in Season 5 and 6 in addition to the first 4. But I’m in the crowd that thinks those two seasons started the big drop in quality. They may not have been as bad as what came later, but they were nowhere near as good as the first 4, being mediocre more than anything else. Season 7 on the other hand, was where Family Guy really got bad. As the seasons bore onward, the animated sitcom ended up going from bad to awful to just plain terrible. These criticisms have been lobbed in Family Guy’s direction before, so I apologize in advance for essentially repeating what has been said time and time again. All of the characters are now the most ridiculous and unlikable bunch I’ve ever had to suffer watching on the TV screen. Peter is a mean-spirited git who likes to cause trouble for his own family with his love of obnoxious and destructive antics all over town. Lois is a self-centered and pretentious hag who manipulates people for her own benefit. Stewie is no longer focusing on his evil intentions due to his sexual self-discovery. Meg is tortured just for the delight of her own family and allows them to do it despite them showing no love for her (Squidward has it much better off because at least Spongebob and Patrick like him and try to be nice). Brian is a pompous piece of garbage who regards himself to be superior to everyone in every single way imaginable with no justification whatsoever. Chris is the only character with any likability. While he isn’t really a character nowadays, at least he shows sensitivity and doesn’t do anything reckless or menacing at random. The ‘beloved’ cutaway gags are running rampant on the show so much, that I can’t tell if the writers are trying to me a story about the family’s everyday life, or if their trying to show me just how much they’ve let their own brains rot from the inside out. The show has also decided to let its’ far-left ideology be the prevailing wisdom of its’ messages. I’m not advocating right-wing ideology here, but I really don’t want to have politics come and butcher what should just be comedic entertainment. I mean, The Simpsons likes to inject its’ political beliefs into the show, but it’s nowhere near as in your face and mean-spirited (in fact, it often feels like good-natured criticism). South Park attacks everyone, so nobody feels singled out when it makes its’ voice heard. Spongebob wisely chooses to just stay away from that minefield. One more thing, can Family Guy not realize that it isn’t competent enough to tackle the events taking place in real-life with how many people they’ve insulted and outraged?! MrEnter has already made specific examples available to us, so I don’t really need to do so myself, but c’mon Family Guy, YOU’RE ESSENTIALLY GIVING PEOPLE THE MIDDLE FINGER WITH YOUR VILE, ATROCIOUS, AND INFURIATING STANCES ON WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG IN THE WORLD!!! YOU DON’T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO BE AN ‘AUTHORITY’ OR ‘EXPERT’ ON THOSE THINGS!!! ESPECIALLY SINCE THE ‘EXPERTS’ GENERALLY DON’T HAVE THE SOLUTIONS TO SUCH HORRORS OR DON’T EVEN TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT’S REALLY AT THE ROOT OF THOSE PROBLEMS!!! YOU NEED TO GET OFF THE AIR BEFORE YOU RUIN WHAT LITTLE DIGNITY YOU HAVE LEFT!!! YOU LOST THE RESPECT THAT MANY HAD FOR YOU WHEN YOU DECIDED THAT YOU WERE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE WHO DIDN’T THINK LIKE YOU DO!!! Unlike The Simpsons, Family Guy makes no real attempt to be like its’ old self! Unlike Spongebob, Family Guy does not make an effort to improve itself! Unlike South Park, Family Guy has no idea about how to properly lampoon real-life! Yes, I’ll show mercy to these three shows because of the reasons I just listed. But Family Guy is the long-running show that I am going to be relentless towards because of the reasons I just listed! YOU, FAMILY GUY, ARE THE SHOW THAT BECAME THE WORST AFTER YOU STARTED OUT WELL!!! YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELF!!! GO AWAY NOW!!! I’m sorry to be so harsh and cruel here, but I needed to get this off my back. With the possible exception of Teen Titans, Family Guy is the one show I can’t forgive for its’ fall from grace. I apologize to those of you who are still fans, but I simply can’t tolerate what has happened to a once great show.
